Shell Artist
At high tide the house is situated nearly in the sea. At low tide, around the rocks,
there are so many different types of seaweed and common British shells.
I arrived
just before the full moon so the sea was really full of excitement.
This piece just
had to have movement and disorder in it. Hours were spent collecting shells in the
freezing winds and cold water. I used mainly local shells, adding Asses ears, violet
coral-shell and white cerithium for more colour and volume.
