Shell Artist

Last update 7/3/10

This work was inspired by one of the two pavilions decorated with shells in the divine garden of prince Peter Wolkonski in Brittany.
I was asked to present a life size maquette for the decoration of an underground
tearoom in France.
It was conceived in panels as a life size model so it could be re arranged in different ways…
a panel of shells could have been replaced by a large mirror.
The yellow coloured background was left apparent through the shelling (as in Bathroom).
Within each shelled strip a different coloured background mortar was used to help highlight the lattice effect.
